The Genius of Marian (directed by Banker White & Anna Fitch) won the Harrell Award for Best Documentary Feature at this year's Camden International Film Festival, an annual documentary film event in Maine. This year, Bernier has been working with SF based Actual Films on a series of projects for Google [x] (Google's secret "moonshot" lab). In June, [x] publicly unveiled their latest idea: Project Loon. It's a new way to deliver reliable Internet via balloons to the billions of people on the planet who don't have it. Here's a short video Bernier edited for their launch in New Zealand.

The Genius of Marian was one of nine documentaries-in-progress selected to participate in the 2012 Documentary Edit & Story Labs. This summer, co-directors Banker White and Anna Fitch, and editor Don Bernier, will join 21 other filmmaking Fellows for a nine-day retreat in the mountains of Utah. The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program & Fund pairs filmmaking teams with world renowned documentary editors and directors to address current challenges in their work and support creative risk-taking around issues of story, dramatic structure, and character development.
